Sulfur is a rare resource that can be randomly dropped by chests and enemies after floor 500.
For sulfur farming, an Item Find of exactly 88 is the best. 89-99 Item Find will get you plenty of Yellow Smithing Crystals instead, and 100+ Item Find no longer applies to rare items, which will decrease the chances for sulfur.
